Role of a, b and c in y = a x^2 + b x + c

The purpose of this applet is to illustrate how the values of a, b and c affect the parabola y = a x^2 + b x + c. Use it as follows:

  1. Use the scroll bar to change the values of a (between -10 and 10). The opening of the parabola should change as a changes. The value of a to the left of the scroll bar should also be updated.
  2. Use the scroll bar to change the values of b and c (between -10 and 10). The parabola should change as b and c change. The value of b and c to the left of the scroll bar should also be updated.

This applet was developed by Dr. Philippe B. Laval, at Kennesaw State University.
